Katie started practicing yoga as a way to relax after working out at the gym. Soon she found herself less interested in gym workouts and more interested in dedicating her free time to her yoga practice, traveling to Cleveland and Westfield, NY to take Iyengar yoga classes. After a few years of structured Iyengar classes she decided to try a hot power yoga class at yogaErie. Within the first month she was taking multiple classes a week, became a karma yogi and eventually studio manager and an instructor.
In 2012 Katie completed Level 1 of YogaFit and in 2014 she completed her 100 hour teacher training at Amazing Yoga. In 2019 she completed 50 hours of Yin Yoga training with Josh Summers and will be continuing on in the Summers School of Yin Yoga to learn more about meditation and traditional Chinese meridians. Katie has also taken workshops with Kathryn Budig, Desiree Rumbaugh, Taylor Harkness, Joe Barnett and Mary Beth LaRue.
